Recipient of the 2006-07 Gatorade National Girls Track and Field High School Athlete of the Year
As a senior (2007), won the state Div. III discus title with a toss of 163-4 and she was second in the shot put at the state meet with a best of 42-10, 2 ½ inches off the winning throw; set what is still the state record (for all divisions) with a throw of 183-3 at Oak Harbor as a senior; that throw was the farthest in the USA in 2007 by a high school girl; was the district and regional champion in the discus; was the Suburban Lakes League (SLL) champion in both the shot put and discus; won the discus competition at the Nike High School Outdoor National Track and Field Championships (166-6); she won the Midwest Meet of Champions (168-2); she also won the USATF Junior National championship with a toss of 162-6; represented the United States in the Pan American Junior Championships in Brazil earning the gold medal
As a junior (2006), won the state Div. III discus title with a toss of 153-7 and she was fourth in the shot put at the state meet with a best of 41-3 3/4; was the district and regional champion in the discus; was the SLL champion in both the shot put and discus; won the discus competition at the Nike High School Outdoor National Track and Field Championships (166-3); she also won the USATF Junior National championship with a toss of 170-6; she represented the United States at the Junior World Track and Field Championships in China
As a sophomore (2005), won the state Div. III discus title with a toss of 145-2; was the district and regional champion in the discus; was the SLL champion in the discus; was second in the shot put in the district meet and fifth in the regional
As a freshman (2004), won the state Div. III discus title with a toss of 141-9; was the district and regional champion in the discus; was the SLL champion in the discus; was third in the shot put in the district meet
During her high school career, Emily won every discus competition during the traditional track season with the exception of three competitions her freshman season and one her sophomore year; was the first Ohio track and field athlete, boy or girl, to win the same event four times at the state track meet
Also earned three letters in volleyball during high school career
As a senior (2012) at Michigan was a second-team All-American placing 12th (173-2) outdoors in the NCAA meet in the discus; she won the discus with a throw of 180-8 in the East Region preliminary meet to earn the NCAA berth; in the Big Ten outdoor meet she was second in the discus (180-0) to earn second-team All-Big Ten; was also 8th in the hammer and 7th in the shot put at the league meet; was the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week in early April after finishing fifth in the hammer, third in the shot put, and second in the discus at the Stanford Invite; indoors, was 8th in the Big Ten meet in the shot put
Was a four-time NCAA meet qualifier in the discus; won the discus competition at the outdoor Big Ten meet as a freshman and sophomore, was second in the league meet in the discus as a junior; competed in the 2008 USA Olympic Championships; she also competed in two USA Senior Track and Field Championships; she competed for three years as a post-collegiate athlete competing in several USA Championships before retiring in 2015
