Student Watershed Watch

On October 5th the AP Biology and CCP Biodiversity students participated in the Student Watershed Watch.  This is a yearly citizen science project through TMACOG (Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments) in which students from NW Ohio sample chemical and biologic parameters in their waterways.  Woodmore tested the Portage River next to Orly Park for Nitrates, Phosphates, Dissolved Oxygen, pH, Temperature, eColi and turbidity.  We also sampled for macroinvertebrates (bugs!) which gives us an idea of how clean the water is because certain types of these bugs cannot live in dirty water.  In addition to gathering this data, we also collected data for the University of Toledo's eDNA (Erie DNA) project which is aiming to document DNA of all species found in our waterways.
